Play Hide & Seek in a VR world

Hide N Seek VR is a game where you play the children’s game Hide & Seek, but you are playing it against other online players. Your character is a cartoon head that you have to hide from other online players.

Creepy floating masks in a VR world

The most noticeable thing about the game is how creepy your competitors look. You have to pick a colourful cartoon mask to act as your player. The mask is your character, and you have to hide in the VR environment. The mask is all you see of your competitors, you do not see any bodies, which means the game is mostly made up of floating cartoon masks as people try to find you, and it looks very creepy. Some of the environments are clearly half-finished or half-skinned, and some of the environments look rather good for a VR game.

Hide your character mask under things

One of the things that sets Hide N Seek VR apart from other games that have tried to use the Hide & Seek premise is that you may hide under things with this version of the game. Plus, you do not have to hide a virtual body, you only need hide the mask that is attached to your face, you do not have to hide the rest of your body. The textured environments show a deeper commitment to quality than most VR indie developers, which is a step in the right direction for indie VR developers.

PROS

  • The multiplayer function adds unexpected gaming dynamics
  • Textured environments are far better than most indie games

CONS

  • The act of hiding is actually quite boring
  • It is only as fun as your competitors make it
